Workshop

At Star Dance Company, we provide in-studio workshops in each dance style that we pursue here. Whether it be Bachata, Salsa, Belly Dancing, Hip-Hop or others, our choreographers try to pass on their pedagogy to the talented young preachers ahead.

Not just our choreographers, some promising and skilled famous talents also take on time to time workshops at our studio. Dance workshops are concise sessions by professional dancers where they come and teach their form of choreography. They share their style, knowledge, and method and small dance choreography to help students become better dancers.

These workshops will help you gather various kinds of dance patterns, know different basics, and understand what’s different out there. Even if you excel in one form of dance style, you can get comfortable in a completely different dance style if you attend these dance workshops. Tara is one of the few dancers I know who commits himself to transferring the skills that he has honed as a dancer, and his learning experiences on the dance floor, into life lessons for everyone. His gift of communication helps him bring these lessons to everyone with clarity, grace, and vivacity.

Tara’s workshops are not just like other salsa/Bachata classes where the instructors teach a pattern and steps that some can replicate and some can’t, or the same old exercises in isolation and styling. What Tara teaches is the fundamentals of partner dance – the proper connection and the mutual “conversation” between partners, as well as the attitude one should have to create a beautiful and fun dance in the 5 or so minutes during a song.

He also emphasizes engagement of the core. These are the elements that are crucial in all partner dancing but are most of the time not taught in an effective way (or at all) in salsa classes. Tara’s classes are unparalleled in the quality, the content and the delivery that captivates all the students, both beginner and advanced.
